Anyone waiting on smear results?

I had my smear done almost 4 weeks ago, I have no reason to be concerned, I’m up to date and have no symptoms. I’m still waiting for the results, I rang the GP and they said they could be taking a bit longer because of the current situation and post could be delayed ect. I’m beginning to feel slightly worried as I want to know if everything is ok. Has anyone had a test recently and how long did the results take?

Yes I had mine done two weeks ago so not expecting them just yet. I snook in just before lockdown which I was glad of as I was slightly overdue and was worried i'd end up being a year overdue because of everything going on.

The nurse did say it was usually 3-4 weeks but that there had no idea how things were going to pan out...if the labs would even continue processing etc. That made me a bit nervous to be honest.

I try to put it to the back of my mind but I am praying that nothing abnormal comes back because it is not the best time to need further investigations or hospital trips, let alone anything worse.

I forgot- i had mine about 4 or 5 weeks ago. No results yet. I have a fair bit of mid cycle cramps so am keen to get results back

Goostacean · 01/04/2020 20:07

I had mine on March 10th and got my results at the end of last week, I think?

rosy71 · 01/04/2020 20:08

I had one about 6-7 weeks ago & got the results last week.

BrieAndChilli · 01/04/2020 20:09

I had one about 3 weeks ago and got my results yesterday

BlueRaincoat1 · 01/04/2020 20:09

I had one on 20 Feb and got the results (all fine) in the post yesterday

Saffzy · 01/04/2020 20:09

I think there are delays anyway aside from Corona. I think mine took 6-7 weeks a few months ago and the nurse told me to expect delays as there were changes in process.

Hoping to reassure you..
I had my smear done a few months ago...As I left I asked if the results would be back in 2-3wks..
The nurse laughed and said you have to be joking...more like 7-8wks..
Thankfully I got the clear results in 8wks..
So with things as they are at the moment..I would expect to get results even later than usual..
It was a worry and at the back of my mind whilst waiting...but a longer wait doesn't indicate anything sinister...just a back log.
I hope you get good news soon

I had mine done in December before Christmas. They said at the time 4 weeks for results bug when I called the surgery after 5 weeks they said they were looking at a 6-8 week wait. And that was before this all happened!

YouMaySayImADreamer · 01/04/2020 20:30

Really relieved to hear these responses, thank you all.

I actually hope it take a bit longer because like I say, I really wouldn't want any bad news in the middle of this lockdown, if the results weren't good.

Napssavelives · 01/04/2020 20:55

Thanks all, makes me feel a bit better. It’s not something I think about normally as I don’t have any symptoms. It’s just when you have the smear it’s in the back of your mind isnt it until the results come.

Got mine in the post today. Took 5 weeks. All clear for HPV so apparently they then don't look for cell changes

Napssavelives · 09/04/2020 13:18

Results came today, all clear :)

Good news! Glad to hear it.

YouMaySayImADreamer · 09/04/2020 22:19

Funnily enough I came to say that mine came today too and all clear. So relieved.

Napssavelives · 10/04/2020 18:23

Oh good. It’s such a relief isn’t it

Mine came back this am abnormal so total panic has set in. Don't know when hospital appointment is yet and I could really do without going on a bus to a hospital Sad

Anyone in the same situation?

BrieAndChilli · 17/04/2020 14:08

@IronNeonClasp
Not exactly the same situation as my results came back normal but during my smear she couldn’t see the strings of my coil so I have been referred for a scan. So freaking out about where my coil is, is it embedded somewhere it shouldn’t be plus then potentially having to go to a hospital setting to be scanned and possible surgery to remove it.

IronNeonClasp · 17/04/2020 14:47

@BrieAndChilli I had this about 2.5 years ago exactly the same thing. Had a scan. It will be fine Thanks
