Perimenopause and irregular periods

This is probably over sharing but I don't want to unnecessarily harass the GP at this moment in time.

I'm only 42 and have heavy periods for a while and PCOS so never know when they're going to arrive. After DH had vasectomy and I had stopped the pill, Gynae consultant put me back on it to regularise and reduce flow and it worked until recently. I was told to tricycle so only have a period every 62 days. Last few periods I had spotting sometimes in between which was new.

I still have one half of the last pack left and am having more than just spotting. On and off period pains and sometimes bleeding, sometimes not - and it's also a different colour, it's very very dark brown 🤷‍♀️

I had a colposcopy about a year ago and that was fine. I think they did an ultrasound.

Is this normal? It's crap being a woman sometimes - I can't do this for the next how many years until I menopause 🙄
