Super heavy period 😩

Hey all sorry in advance if it's a bit too much tmi......I am having the worst period ever! Had my baby 17 weeks ago and this is my 3rd period since, never had one like this, (here's the tmi) going through a super plus tampon and night time pad every hour and half, literally soaking through 😔 I don't want to bother my doc with all this CV going on as they are super busy so was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this
Thanks in advance

I have had issues with bleeding heavily and have since had ablation surgery.

Please contact your doctor's surgery today; they are not wanting coronavirus patients anywhere near the doctor's surgery in any event. This is a problem that needs attention. Do not think that they are too busy to see you, you need to be seen or at the very least spoken to by phone.

Heavy periods/menorrhagia is not something that you should at all put up with because you can become anaemic if you keep bleeding heavily.

There are drugs you can try to slow down the bleeding so definitely worth contacting your GP practice like Attilla suggests.

Thanks guys I'll give my docs a call now and see what they say 😁

I hope you were successful in calling them.

I was originally prescribed tranexamic acid but although it lessened the flow it did not stop the bleeding. The only drug treatment that did work well for myself was northisterone.

I would hesitate to take noristerone if you’ve had heavy bleeding. I’ve taken it previously to delay periods before a big event and it was fine but got given it to try and stop ongoing bleeding when my mirena didn’t settle down after 9 months (which was put in to try and resolve heavy bleeding). It worked eventually but then I had even worse bleeding with massive clots, so bad that NhS24 sent me to A&E and it seems that my mirena came out during that episode too. I’m sure it was because it was just saving it up for a later date! Tranexamic acid helps for me but I still bleed heavily (fibroids awaiting treatment).

Didn't get through to the docs buy it's very much calmed down now 🤞

Hey! I won’t be any help but I also had my third period pp (22 weeks) last week and it’s been the most horrific yet: I was soaking through night pads every hour. Finally ended my period completely at day 9. I went to the docs and he prescribed me that trax acid so it’s in the cupboard but after reading some side effects I decided to see this one out and to see how the next period goes before going back to docs and possibly asking to see a gynaecologist.
Not much help for you but hopefully a little reassurance that other people are going through the same as you Smile
