Hpv positive and ovarian cancer symptoms

Hi all,

I'm freaking out and would love some kind of advice or anyone who can relate!

My smear came back as positive and I've been booked for an urgent colposcopy which makes me worry in itself, but the past few months I've been worrying as Ive been having symptoms of ovarian cancer (I know isn't what is tested for in smear) such as feeling so bloated, lower back pain, heavy periods, pains, urinating more frequently etc. Can I get it all checked at one appointment? Has anyone else had this before?

Hi,

Didn't want to leave you with no reply. I don't have experience of those symptoms so can't help on that front unfortunately.

However, I have been for a colposcopy & just wanted to let you know it's highly unlikely they'd be able to tell you about anything other than your cervix at that appointment.

The actual exam itself only looks at the cervix, they do take a gynae history from you so obviously you can mention it but be prepared for them to suggest you go back to your GP to get it investigated further.

Wishing you lots of luck for your appointment & hope you get to the bottom of it all soon Smile

@Munchkin1995, I agree with the above poster. You need to go back to the GP, who may refer you for some blood tests, internal scan and possibly other investigations.

I had a very similar experience to you. It turned out I had 2 grapefruit sized cysts which were causing the back pain and bloatedness.
I had a colposcopy for my abnormal smear and they arranged for me to have a hysteroscopy under GA to have a look around.
Hope everything works out well for you
