Just got period on the pill

I started taking the pill 2 weeks ago, I know you're meant to start taking it straight after your period but I'm on it for acne not contraception so didn't see a reason to, and the doctor also didn't tell me to. But now I've just got my period, even though I've been taking it at the same time every day for 2 weeks.

Has anyone else had this? I thought you didn't get periods on the pill, except a light bleed in your week off.

Which pill is it? You would normally start it from the first day of your period but that's to ensure you are covered against getting pregnant.

@nickname302 depends on the type of pill you are taking, and even so some people will still get periods. however if you are not taking it correctly and as per the instructions in the packet then please ensure you are using condoms!

It's the Levest 150/30, I also have the copper coil so not too worried about pregnancy Smile so some people do still get normal periods on the pill? I never knew that!

Did you read the leaflet? Googling found this:

Bleeding between periods

During the first few months that you are taking Levest, you may have unexpected bleeding (bleeding outside the gap week). If this bleeding lasts longer than a few months, or if it begins after some months, talk to your doctor, who will find out what is wrong.

I had monthly bleeds on the pill. 9Not sure which one.

You can get some bleeding whilst your body settles on to it. You've only been taking it for 2 weeks so not nearly long enough to work out if this will be a constant thing for you. I have been on rigevidon for about 3 years and only get a light bleed on my pill free week.
