Hi guys, I know that this topic has been asked before (trust me I have scrolled through all of the posts) but I’m still seeking some reassurance and insight into the life of endo.
Please tell me mostly what you’re symptoms were as I know they vary so much from person to person! How do you cope and what has made it better for you?
I was on the pill for a long time and came off about 2.5 years ago. I noticed my periods got heavier and more painful but I just thought it was my cycle sorting itself out. I had a copper coil fitted 2 years ago and have been in agony ever since.
I’ve had the same partner and am up to date with my STI checks so I know it’s not PID (which I was concerned about).
I spent the last couple of years back and forwards to the doctors and dieticians with suspected IBS, although no diet change has helped. I also had a period of recurrent UTIs- but touch wood that seems to be better recently.
My periods are now roughly 10 - 12 days and so heavy (I will saturate a green tampon every 2 hours). I have sharp pains in my ovaries and really bad cramping in my lower reproductive organs. I get lower back pain and a numb shooting pain down the front of my legs. I can take 120mg of codeine and that doesn’t touch the pain sometimes (I use it now to make me sleepy because if I can sleep I can ignore the pain). I have to breath through some of my cramps literally like labour and I can feel physically sick and lightheaded.
I cannot be on top in bed, I get a really sharp stabbing pain internally that can actually makes me cry. Sometimes even in normal positions if he suddenly goes deep I get a severe pain and have to stop. After sex (not always) I get period type cramps for the rest of the evening, sometimes into the next day.
I also think that I get pains when I ovulate. Now I’m not SURE that I’m ovulating (because I don’t know how you tell) but it’s always mid cycle the same time between periods, my ovaries feel like they’re wrestling and I get period cramps for about 2 days.
I’ve been to my GP who said maybe the copper coil just isn’t right for me, but she has referred me for an internal ultrasound and mentioned that if the results come back clear then perhaps it’s endo and I should see a gyno.
I’m just so concerned because I’m desperate for a baby (not quite yet) and I’m worried this will affect it.
