MRI for bartholin cyst

Has anyone had a consultant refer them for an mri after he diagnosed a small lump to be a bartholin cyst? I am worried it might be something more and he didn't want to say anything until he got mri results.

Was scrolling through the board and saw this. How did you get on? I have to see GP soon as I can feel a lump on my cervix!

Huffle · 08/05/2020 19:33

@mrsawhite I was at the doctor last week as a I have a lump on my cervix too, it’s hard like a pea. She said it’s a nabothian cyst and nothing to worry about. Hope yours is ok too

mrsawhite · 11/05/2020 16:26

I'm going in tomorrow. So worried now that it's something sinister. GP said she wasn't worried on the phone. But she can't really judge until she sees. What do they do about it if it is this cyst?

Huffle · 11/05/2020 17:32

She said they just leave it when it’s a nabothian cyst. I also have ectropion cervix and she’s referred me for a colposcopy just because she said there was a random blood vessel visible on my cervix and they aren’t doing smears at the moment. I’m not sure what the blood vessel is all about but she said quite clearly the cyst, which is what I was worried about, was absolutely fine and normal.

Iv had them twice, hot bath with sea salt, hot compress too, pops in a day or two

mrsawhite · 11/05/2020 18:21

Interesting re the sea salts! I wasn't worried about it. Now I am. Shouldn't google stuff 🙈

Huffle · 11/05/2020 18:51

I think the sea salts are for a bartholin cyst (on the vulva), I had one of these too a few years ago and the nurse said salt baths. The nabothian cyst is the cervix one and nothing to worry about. I’m sure you’ll be fine

mrsawhite · 11/05/2020 21:02

Ah ok. This is definitely on my cervix. I'm worried it feels bigger than what they are described online. Scared myself to death it's something sinister. Also we're trying to conceive and have been trying for a long time. Not sure if this would effect it

Hedgehog44 · 11/05/2020 21:31

I've had a lump on my cervix for over 30 years and it's nothing sinister and I'm still here xx

mrsawhite · 11/05/2020 22:21

Did they do any tests on it?

mrsawhite · 12/05/2020 09:56

Eugh. It's a polyp. Don't feel much better. Doctor said it didn't look suspicious but referring me to gynaecologist

Huffle · 12/05/2020 11:33

When I went in with my lump on the phone beforehand the GP said it would either be a nabothian cyst, a polyp or a bit of fibroid, all of which would be harmless but she would guess at cyst as mine was hard and she said polyps are a bit squishy. She said whatever it was it would be fine. I don’t know if it helps but I was really worried and she said if it was cervical cancer, by the time it got to the point where I could feel a lump with my finger I would have been having other symptoms (pain, discharge, bleeding, changes on smear test) that did reassure me a bit

mrsawhite · 12/05/2020 11:39

Ah ok. Yes mine is quite squishy 🙈 I was getting spotting but none for the last 2 months. And no pain. Had a feel of my tummy said all fine. She did tell me not to worry. She's not sure how long the referral will take. But from reading up think it's quite easily removed.
