UTI? Advice/Remedies welcome

Have had what feels like a UTI since Wednesday morning. Admittedly, I wasn't drinking enough water to clear it till yesterday. OH got me some cystitis sachets so started those last night and tried to drink 3ltrs of water yesterday.

By the evening I feel 'ok' and if it's about the clear. Wake up in the night to feed my 5 month old and it's creeping back again.

I'm okay when I'm weeing, but as I start to finish I can feel the burning sensation coming on 😭. I dread going to the toilet but I need to go what feels like every 5 minutes. The minute I stand up I feel like I have a full bladder but nothing comes out.

If it carries on till Monday I'll call the Dr's. I used to suffer so so badly when I was younger but haven't had them for a while and this is a killer.

Any advice is appreciated x

Walk in centre today for antibiotics. Don't let it get worse. I think you can get them from Superdrug online but not sure of details.

AnnaMagnani · 25/01/2020 09:41

Walk-in centre. Why wait until Monday?

TheWashingMachine · 25/01/2020 09:46

Walk in centre, lots of water, waterfall d-mannose

Fairylea · 25/01/2020 09:50

Get antibiotics today. Don’t wait till Monday. Ring 111.

Okay will do. Thanks all. It's my own fault I should be drinking more water 🤦🏽‍♀️

I had these symptoms and cystitis was always my thought, but I was recently diagnosed with trigonitis (inflammation of the entrance of my bladder).
(no uti)
If i feel the Symtoms coming onI drink lots and it helps but Im like it for arou d 1 to 2 weeks.
Possible you could have an inflammed urethra?

Dobbyhasnomaster · 26/01/2020 23:53

Ring 111 - they have diagnosed me over the phone twice now (I always get them at inconvenient times like a Friday night and the day before I go on holiday!), and they just send the prescription to your nearest pharmacy. It’s awesome! Feel better soon.

Went to the dr's and found no trace of infection but I'm still in pain 😭.

This is driving me mad

@TheWashingMachine what dosage of it should I be looking for?

Had antibiotics and now it's come back 😰.

I had great success with taking D-Mannose supplements when I had a UTI and kidney infection that just took forever to go (seriously, 4 lots of antibiotics and a hospital stay!). Can get them from amazon. Need to take quite a few each few hours at first then taper off. Lots of relief. Make sure if the UTI is taking a while to go back to GP as my UTI went suddenly from standard UTI to raging kidney infection within about 12 hours and without much warning at all. Any back pain or pain in your sides could be signs of kidney infection.

tryingtobeablogger · 04/02/2020 02:53

@itchybitzy this is what happened to me on the first day of taking the antibiotics. My back was in bits I thought I was going to have to call 111. It's was absolutely horrendous but went within a couple of hours. UTO went on Friday but came back Sunday 😭. Going to call Dr's again & get some supplements too. Yay for amazon prime. My Dr's a witch though, I absolutely hate her.

The antibiotics they originally gave me helped a tiny bit but a day later it would come back worse (think I had Macrobid (Nitrofurantonin), Amoxicillin at first in varying lengths of course of treatment). The only ones to really kick it on its head was a 7 day course of Ciprofloxacin which is quite strong. I still had some aches once the course had finished - my back still felt a bit tender but apparently this is quite common after a kidney infection as the tissues remain inflamed for a while. Definitely mention the back pains to the GP as this usually gets them to take it more seriously as kidney infections are really quite serious!

itchybitzy · 04/02/2020 08:43

Oh also - I took Oregano oil capsules and Tumeric capsules when I had a UTI. Oregano works as a kind of natural antibiotic and Tumeric helps reduce inflammation! Again, available on Amazon!

tryingtobeablogger · 04/02/2020 09:42

@itchybitzy thanks so much! I rang this morning and she's prescribed me a longer course of MacroBID, so if that doesn't work I'll ring back again. Hopefully it will clear. I just hate needing the toilet every 5 minutes and nothing coming out 😭. I've got a long hair appointment this morning and I'm dreading it.

Ditto for turmeric, and hydro-soluble forms absorb better!
