Smear test due...scared

Hi all. Has anyone ever had an experience like mine? A few years ago, after two clear smears, my results gave back as severe abnormal cells with HPV.

I went for a colposcopy and was told I had a very small area of white cells that they would burn off. The experience was horrible. I then waited 6 months and was told I had minor celll changes and then 6 months later, no cell changes but with HPV. I was obviously happy no cell changes but frustrated I can’t shift the HPV.

I’m due to go again soon and I’m so nervous. Has anyone ever struggled to get rid of HPV? I really don’t want more treatment and envisage my cervix all scarred and buts missing.

I just want the whole thing to end and I can relax for at least a few years.

Hey. I had low grade and HPV had to have 2 colposcopys. Had my smear last year (was put on yearly) still had low grade/borderline changes but no HPV so the hospital were happy to put me back to 3 yearly.
When I went for the smear I was terrified so I totally get it! Hope everything is ok x

Thank you. Did you have to have any treatment? X

No I was lucky just the repeated colposcopy and biopsies

I had lazer and loop surgery with CIN3 and had the HPV virus for years. I had abnormal cells again and had to go for yearly colposcopies at the hospital. I got my first all clear three years ago, but have something wrong with my cervix now (can't remember the name, but apparently isn't anything serious). I moved countries and had my first smear test for a while the other day. Am a bit stressed about the results tbh.
