recalled for breast screening

I know this will have been done to death on MN but my cursory search did not find much.

I have been asked to come in for a second screening after having my recent regular breast screening. I know this does not mean I definitely have cancer but would people please tell me their stories about being called back?

I'm in exactly the same position it's terrifying isn't it?

How did you get on? X

I was called back last year and it was all fine. I had another mammogram just on the side they were concerned about, then a consultant did an ultrasound and had a feel and they concluded they thought I'd had a cyst which had gone by the time I returned.

I was worried before so I did the stupid googling thing. It told me 1 in 4 women recalled might need further testing etc. And told me to speak to the clinic if I was worried before my appointment - useless to me as they never answer their phone! So I just went along on the day and was seen as above.

I have just had my next annual mammogram (family history) and am awaiting my letter for this year (hopefully all normal)

Thanks. I don't mean to hi jack this thread, I already have one running bits it's gone quiet so when I saw this one I thought I could maybe get my anxieties calmed slightly by the OP? Hope she is ok?

I'm doing the googling and trying not to. I have no family history that I know of, no lumps or bumps but I'm sure my boobs are aching today I'm sure that's physiological lol. I got called as a trial for a screening as I'm only 47. I didn't want to go as I'm a bit of an ostrich and I bury my head in the sand. Two of my friends went for them too, one same age as me, she hasn't been recalled, other one slightly older but her circumstances are different as she carries the BRCA gene and gets tested regularly. She got recalled and although thankfully her results were fine it's made her feel a preventative mastectomy is needed, which has been on the cards.

She is a great support. Just need to know how to calm down, I'm literally shaking and not not eating I'm absolutely convinced they are going to tell me I have breast cancer Sad

I got called back after routine screening. Went to the fast track clinic. More mammograms, this time I could see the lump on the screen from across the room. Sat in the waiting room (was there from 9am to 2pm) saw the consultant who was lovely, said he was sure it was a cyst. It was a cyst and he drained it there and then. The worrying from call back letter to consultant appointment was horrible. I hope you have a good outcome.

I got told I had calcifications in my right breast. As they didn't have another mammogram to compare it to it obviously needed looking at. I had an ultrasound and a biopsy and they've left two markers in my breast so as to identify the area. The consultant didn't seem too worried and they are giving me a telephone consultation with the results. I am still on the ceiling with anxiety tho and thinking the worst!
