My periods have gone absolutely mental, why?!

I’ve always had regular periods, could pinpoint when I’d start down to the minute pretty much. Came back on my period exactly 4 weeks after giving birth despite ebf Hmm

The last 4/5 have just been really weird. Extreme cramping which is not normal for me, but with a really light period lasting 3 days max. They’re usually quite heavy and last 5/6 days. Also completely haywire, 3 weeks in between, then 6 weeks, then 3 weeks again etc.

I’m on 31 so I’m hoping it’s not menopausal related! But not sure if it’s even worth going to the drs about? Anyone shed any light?

Contraceptives? Stress? Bf can shorten periods too.

MustardScreams · 10/01/2020 22:46

No contraceptives, not more stressed than usual. Stopped bf 8 months ago. Should have put that in the op! Just can’t work out what’s triggered it to change.

PCOS?

MustardScreams · 11/01/2020 09:37

I don’t have any other symptoms of PCOS so I ruled that out. Hmm. Maybe my body just got bored of being predictable!

See your GP for some hormonal bloods. That’s quite a change.

Although I went from someone who used to be 32 days give or take, light periods of around 4 days to now being 23-30 days, 6 days of medium flow and all the doctors could offer was hormonal contraceptives

Have you had a recent smear test?

Greeni · 11/01/2020 11:24

I didn’t have any other signs of pcos, I just went and said my periods have gone crazy, it’s worth going for blood tests
