Period pain after childbirth

Gave birth to my first 6 months ago, all went well no intervention. Managed pain on paracetamol and gas and air. I've had 3 periods since and they seem to be getting more painful, the same area/muscle that was wrenching in labour. Am I right to assume there is likely still some healing to be done where these muscles are used for periods. I mean it's the same motion isn't it as labour, but last night felt almost as bad as I remember being in labour?!

Your womb is bigger now so periods are more painful and you bleed more. I had a constant pain in my womb for a year after I gave birth. So things might get better after that.

Thank you yes I am bleeding a lot more than I used to. This makes sense.

The first year after giving birth is horrendous. People talk about pregnancy, childbirth and the baby but do not mention what you will go through after birth.

I personally found it worst than being pregnant.
