Endo- what comes next??

Doctor suspects endometriosis. Blood tests and ultrasound all clear. From what I've read this is normal?

What happens next then? Do I now have a battle to be taken seriously? The ultrasound nurse said she would send my doctor the result. Will the doctor contact me and say they are referring me on still?

I've got effective painkillers now but after a lot of infertility I would like an actual diagnosis.

Endometriosis can take a while to diagnose. The only way it can be diagnose is a laparoscopy. Push your GP if they try to fob you off, you deserve to know what it is.

If you need further information there is the endometriosis organisation that would be able to help.

Try not to feel too discouraged with infertility, I know people with endometriosis who have been able to conceive multiple times, my mother being one.

Endometriosis is indeed not always diagnosed through either blood tests or ultrasound scans (I've had more of both than I care to mention and none of these showed the endometriosis that was present in my uterine cavity).

The GP should now refer you onto a gynaecologist. You will need to be persistent in order to get answers.

Thanks both, I feel I deserve an answer after years of heartache. Also the extreme pain progressed from bad to absolutely unbearable within 6months and it has terrified the crap out of me.

I need to see the doctor for something else this week so will mention it briefly to see what happens next for information! If I'm allowed to...
