Really confused with possible UTI symptoms... please help!!

Hi all,

A bit of a long story but here we go. Two weeks ago I started UTI like symptoms (just an uncomfortable bladder/peeing/pressure) and dr put me on 3 days trimethoprim. It didn’t work. He then put me on 3 days of Selexid which again didn’t work! so then a urine culture was sent off and I’ve been put on nitrofurantoin. Culture came back clear indicating no infection so I was told to continue on nitrofurantoin to see if it helps but it’s not. Doctors are saying this can’t be a UTI now. I do have itchiness/thrush like symptoms but the main bother is when I go to pee I feel I have to really fight with my muscles to relax and let pee out and there’s just a horrible ache. Anyone have and advice?! So desperate to feel better

Has your GP not mentioned a urology referral? I’d be pushing for one.
Hope you get somewhere with this quickly, sounds really unpleasant.

I had that! It was bacterial vaginosis I had swabs to confirm then had metronidazole

Oh that’s really interesting! Did you have the ache whilst urinating?

I’m going away for Christmas but when I get back I’m going to push for one. Thanks!
