Does a TV scan always show cysts?

First post in this topic so apologies if it's in the wrong spot!

Background: periods came back when baby was 7 months old, have had awful mid cycle pain and nausea / bloating / loss of appetite etc each month. Got so bad I couldn't get to work etc so went to doc, who has sent me for bloods and a TV ultrasound which was yesterday.

Technician said she couldn't see anything (which is great) but I'm now left wondering what else it could be? I know they were looking for cysts and any signs of ovarian cancer so guessing if nothing showed on scan it's neither of those... but can cysts be missed on a scan?
