Having a scan to check if I have PCOS. Does anyone know if you are told there and then if you have it or if I will have to see my GP

I had an internal scan for PCOS, I asked if they could see anything and they said they couldnt see any cysts, but they advised I would have to wait for the confirmation sent to GP.

Didn't realise it's an internal one 😭

With no medical training other than a Brownie first aid badge, I could immediately see I had PCOS as my ovaries were just covered in cysts.

Sorry! If it helps to be prepared, I had to have a wedge cushion under my bum, I think to allow better view. The ladies doing it were lovely, even with lots of rearranging of positions in order to get the best view Blush

When I had mine the lady talked me through what she could see
(I had just finished a night shift and I am a nurse so I think that's why she openly talked to me about what she could see).
To me it was just a lot of different shades of grey/black/white.
She told me she didn't think I had PCOS but had to wait until it had been reviewed by the consultant and then had to go back to my GP.
I was diagnosed with PCOS.
So my advise is defiantly go and see your GP for results.

When I was diagnosed with pcos I first went to the doctors with symptoms of it, had blood tests which confirmed my hormones indicated I had it, and was then referred for an ultrasound. I had an external and internal scan during my appointment, but it didnt take long and was honestly not uncomfortable at all. Also she said the internal scan was optional but as I wanted a definitive answer I said I didnt mind having it. She said there and then thay die to the "bulky" size of my ovaries that I had it, and she said my GP would come back to me with the results to confirm it as well.
