Achy joints before and during period

The last couple of months I have had very achy joints/limbs in the few days before, and then during my period

It feels as though I've walked 20 miles and my legs and joins are achy and tired - although it will have a been a fairly routine day. It's primarily in my ankles, knees and legs - but also sometimes in my elbows and wrists.

Then a day or two after my period is over, I'm back to normal

Anyone have any idea what's causing this ? Or anything I can do about it?

Last few months I’ve had this too so am following this with interest

Me too. First day of my period my legs and thighs feel like I have done a massive work out when I haven't. Following. Smile

Yep. I sat down this evening and everything ached like I'd walked miles when I didn't do nearly as much as normal. Period due tomorrow..

I suppose it's hormonal somehow. Or age related - I'm 41

Are you peri menopausal? That was one of my symptoms.

Jesus Christ, I hate this getting older lark, my back is knackered and I bent down before and felt something go in my knee. I feel about 100 😞

Temporaryanonymity · 27/11/2019 21:34

I used to get this as a teenager!

unmumsymumof2 · 27/11/2019 21:35

I get this too & always have. I'm 29

mrsbrightside1308 · 27/11/2019 21:40

I'm 31 and also get this.

It's the progesterone, which is high before and during your period. It loosens joints.

I'm hypermobile and period time is the worst for my joints slipping out of place and hurting.

I'm 35, just started over the last few months...

Has anyone found anything that helps? I've been having baths in Epsom salts hoping that might help, but they did nothing. I've also tried evening primrose oil, star flower and b6 ... but they don't seem to help the joint ache.

All I can add is “me too” but it’s my knees shoulders and hips, have seen several different doctors about it over the years but every single one of them looked at me as if I was mad Confused but when I had my mirena coil I had virtually no problems ( coil has now migrated somewhere up in my womb and can’t be replaced without a general anaesthetic apparently Sad )

Perhaps just take ibuprofen.
