Had the phone call yesterday to say I'm high risk 1:69 for Down syndrome. I cried constantly for 1 hour after. I'm booked in for a cvs Friday and my anxiety is through the roof!
Just wondering has anyone else been through it? Is the procedure really painful?
I've already got a fear of needles so will be keeping my eyes shut throughout x

@Jkkl2020 no-one expects that call and I think most women react just as you did. I have been the one to make hundreds of those calls as a specialist midwife. I know that sometimes people don't get very good information and obviously it is hard to take it all in when you are frightened and upset.
CVS is not usually a painful procedure, more uncomfortable like having an ordinary blood test and feels a bit weird. It is quick though- about the same as having your initial pregnancy booking bloods taken.
Have you got a copy of your result?
Have you been given information about the other type of testing known as NIPT?
Have you been able to think about "what if?"
If you want to talk it through I am happy to do that. I will PM you
