I have had an extremely irritable itching all over my body for a good few months now and nothing will help, GP says no sort of skin problem and i'm not pregnant (put it down to this many times as i suffered it in pregnancy but everytime i have done a test its negative) my chest seems to randomly go tender and i constantly feel the urge to cry :( I have been on the same contraception for over 1 year so havent recently change meds. I get random fits of anger and I also get hot flush ridiculously for no reason.

Any suggestions would be fab, i'm on antidepressants too but again has been the same ones for a while x

What age are you?

Peri menopause can led to reduction in oestrogen which leads to issues with collagen and the itching is caused. Peri menopause can also cause anxiety and tearfulness

I'll be 26 in feb, the emotions come and go randomly but have not been a side effect i have received to the implant before & i have had it for 2 years now and the itching not since i was pregnant (think thats why i keep doing tests incase it might be that but nothing) l

I dont use sunbeds and live in Scotland so no sun to dry up my skin lol

Too young probably for menopause
Have you had liver function tested?

pickletickled · 21/11/2019 12:33

An allergy?
Keep a note of when it happens.
I didn't develop food allergies until I was late 20's/early 30's
Particularly wheat and strawberries make me so itchy.
My skin also doesn't like the aircon at work. Cool I'm fine but as soon as the heat comes on I itch like mad.

I developed food intolerances in my 20's that cause me to be very itchy if I eat any (dairy and eggs). You could keep a good diary (but don't forget to check labels, eggs for example pop up in all sorts of things), or I paid for one of the online allergy tests (York Test) which was pricey but has been accurate for me (and for my mum).

When I get a reaction I also feel really down, it definitely affects my mood too.

Have you had your hormone levels & liver function checked? If these are ok, look at washing powders, products you use on your body, swap to something like Aveeno, Child's Farm or E45, don't use shower gels, swap to emollient based products like aqueous cream to wash with.
