Forceps delivery survivors - how long until you healed?

Just that really. I was told by surgeon /midwives / HV etc that 6 weeks was the norm in terms of recovery. I'm now 13wks on and down below is still painful to touch and not healed completely. No infection.

Went to GP this morning for another matter but asked if the slow recovery is something to be concerned about.. To be told that "nobody" heals in 6 weeks really and for some it can take 6 months to a year... ShockSad

Anyone with any stories/advice so I know there is light at the end of this (sore) tunnel??

I had reconstructive surgery one year after the birth, it took another 18 months to be bearable pain-wise sitting down, hiking, getting in and out of the car etc. But 8 years on and I still experience pain during "intimate" times.

Fun Hmm

I was not forceps but ventouse and took me around 3 to 4 months to even resemble a normal appearance again.

Was about 10 weeks for me.

@elQuintoConyo sorry to hear that! Is there anything else they could do?

Nobody at the magical 6 week mark yet then, which makes me feel a bit better about my situation not being too abnormal!
