Bacterial vaginosis symptoms

I think I may have bv but only because of the delightful odour issue. No other symptoms - itching, discharge,etc. Gp appointment isn't for a couple of weeks. Just wondering if anyone knows if it is common to have just the one symptom?

After reading something on here last week I have to ask if it possible you could still have a tampon inside?

You can buy a testing kit for this from Boots etc, could be worth getting if your GP appointment is a while off?

Definitely not a lost tampon, but all other options will be considered!

Didn't know about the kit in boots, thanks, I'll see if one locally has one. I presume if it is bv it needs antibiotics rather than anything otc?

I had my smear a couple of weeks ago and all was apparently fine then so I'm presuming it's nothing too sinister.

I only have the odour issue, and only at certain times.

Anyway, I bought and over the counter cream from the supermarket and it solved the problem.

Interesting pinkcardi. I got the test which seems.to indicate I don't have bv but no idea what else it might be. I've convinced myself I'm getting cramps, but I think it's just the residual ab pain from.a gym class on Saturday

I had BV a long time ago and the only way I knew was because of the odour that only appeared after I had sex (I had been single for 2 years at this point so wasn’t having sex to realise when this started) but the ONLY thing that worked for me was pure boric acid suppositories inserted at bedtime for 7 days. The ONLY thing that worked.

Antibiotics cleared it up for a week or so (had sex to check) then I had sex again and realised the smell came back and tried boric acid.

Haven’t had any symptoms since and that was years ago
