Prolapse type thing?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar, and what their outcome was.

For almost a year now, I’ve had trouble defecating. My GP just put me on strong laxatives, because I can only go if it’s liquid 😳
If I feel up there, I can feel a solid lump pushing into the side of my rectum, which seems to basically be narrowing everything. If I push it, I sometimes bleed out of my vagina.

I’ve been to my GP 4 times this year, and finally saw a gynaecologist. They just examined my vagina while I was lying down, said I have some degree of uterine and bladder prolapse, and put a pessary in. The pessary came out after about 10 mins. They didn’t examine my rectum or seem overly concerned about it, but it’s my main issue! I can cope with pushing my vagina and cervix back in, I can’t cope with the defecating issues!

So what I’m wondering is, where do I go from here? I can’t keep taking these laxatives, it’s making my life hell. And just what’s going on? I read about rectoceles, but this seems like my cervix is pushing into my rectum, not the other way round. Has anyone else had this?

I haven't experienced what you describe but do have experience of prolapses. If the main problem is in your rectum I'd advise trying to get a referral to a colorectal surgeon rather than a gynaecologist.

There is a Facebook group, Association for Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support which is very helpful and informative. One of the ladies on there might have experienced similar and be able to help.

All the best, it must be an awful thing to have to cope with daily.
