I had my tooth extracted on friday it was a wisdom tooth. I was in so much pain over the weekend. The worst pain I've experienced! I've been told I have a dry socket. I went to dentist it was filled with a dressing pain came back. I got another dressing still in pain. I also got antibiotics as its infected. I was wondering if anyone else had them and how did they cope. I've been told it will take a week to heal. Painkillers not working. Dentist wont prescribe painkillers. I've been told to take paracetamol or codeine and gargle with salt water. How can I cope for a week with constant pain.

@Fakeflowersaremynewnormal thank you. I swear I've got an injection because the pain goes all into my cheek and temple Sad can't do another week of this!

That sounds really bad subway do go back to the dentist or to A&E if it's not improving. Do you have some good painkillers? An icepack on the side of your face can also help.

@subwaysaladfan go to A&E if pain is really bad if you cant get to dentist. All I can say is I had foul taste in my mouth and my breath was foul according to my husband. I had an infection. I got some 30mg cocodamol of hospital when I went to A&E . I got antibiotics off dentist the first lot of antibiotics didn't work .I'm still on the second dose. Pain is still there but not as bad. I had pain all over side of my face under eyes, headaches and earaches. Take your temperature mine was very low. If you phone 111 they will tell you not to go to hospital I should have gone then. Don't overdo the clove oil it can cause burns and hinder healing. Oragel was useless. See if you can get an emergency dental appointment with your dentist if not go to A&E. I'm plodding along and totally fed up now but I have the skin still missing off my jawbone.

How are you getting on OP?

I had my extraction this morning, and am not looking forward to the healing process as I'm terrified of dry socket.

I've taken codeine for the pain this afternoon, but am praying this heals OK!

@TwattingDog my pain is subsiding a little. I've managed to eat something other than soup today.Grin I still have pain but laying off the codine. Its been 13 days now. My socket hole is getting smaller but jawbone not healing .

Glad it's improving and do take some
painkillers if you need it but good to cut down if you can.
