Vulva lump and smear test

I have a fear of smear tests and have been putting it off. I noticed a small lump inside my inner labia and having googled it says the most likely cause is a cyst. I want to get it checked but should I book a seperate appointment or book a smear and ask them to check the lump at the same time. I would like to get it over in one appt due to my fear but don't want to ask for two things in one appointment if that would annoy the nurse.

I would mention it to the nurse during smear appt. She can take a look and if she thinks it needs further checking will advise you to make a doctors appt. I wouldn't make a separate appt at this stage.

I think you need separate appointments. Funnily enough I saw the GP recently about something very similar and then had my smear test a few days later.

Thanks both, Missy can I ask how they checked the lump?

GP examined me. I had actually gone there with an itchy sore patch but she found a lump. She has referred me to Gynae and I’m waiting for the appointment.

I think the person doing the smear could take a look.
I had a bartholin cyst on my labia, it was harmless but I opted to have it removed.

Good luck
