Vaginismus and hypnotherapy

Since the birth of my son I was diagnosed with vaginismus. I had both a painful traumatic experience with induction and child labour. I was rushed in for emergency c section after my blood pressure dropped and my son's heart rate dropped. I am afraid to go for cervical smear tests so I have never had one and sometimes sex is difficult for myself and my husband. Sex was always difficult before I was diagnosed with vaginismus. I have been having health problems the last 2 months from bladder infections to coeliac disease and I really want a cervical smear test to give me more health reassurance as I keep getting stressed and worried over my health. I am looking into hypnotherapy. Has anyone been to hypnotherapy for this? If so did it work and how many sessions did it take to cure it?

Not been for hypnotherapy for it. I have been through a similar situation the pain from being examined etc just the thought of it makes my legs cross.
If its any help I'd rather go for a screening test any day compared with that!
It's only a few seconds pain and feels slightly uncomfortable inform your nurse that you have issues with it they will be patient with you as they know its daunting. Only thing I can recommend is breathing techniques breathe out whilst they examine and focus on something on the ceiling to help take your mind off of it. A work colleague pushed me to go for my first one. Good luck x
