Dentist won’t X-ray me

I have had an infection in my wisdom tooth since February, I asked for it to be taken out but they said no, was given anti biotics. Fast forward to today, I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant, I have half a wisdom tooth, the other part literally crumbled and fell out and I am in agony. I have had TWO temporary fillings And FOUR lots of anti biotics for it, the latest temp filling didn’t even last a weekend. (Literally got it Friday and it’s Monday today). I have gone to about 4 different dentists since May begging for an X-ray and asking them to remove my wisdom tooth because I’m in too much pain to eat or sleep and have a three year old so not coping very well with it all, they just keep refusing and telling me I have to wait until I’ve given birth, I’m due in January, there is no way I can wait. The temporary fillings are so painful because of how they scrape the nerve. I can’t keep doing this every week because they won’t X-ray me and rip it out. I have googled it so many times and have even asked a dental nurse who I am friends with, there is little to no risk to the baby. What can I do to make them X-ray me and take it out? I’m exhausted and I’m so much pain it’s killing me 😔
I have also tried the at home temporary fillings, they just don’t work? they say they need to X-ray it to see how bad the tooth is because they don’t want to try and take the tooth out because it’s more than likely going to crumble in the mouth and cause more problems. Please someone help me

Hi @Teegs,

We're just giving this thread a bump for you in case anyone's around to give you some advice - it sounds like you're going through such a tough time. Sad Flowers

Would your consultant give a letter for the dentist saying it's ok?

They are probably petrified of getting sued or their insurance not covering it. Do they need an x ray to treat it? What can they suggest as an alternative to waiting? Can you escalate to a practice manager or top brass as the dentist?

Ask your GP to refer you urgently to the Maxilo Facial dept of your Hospital. Ask for the referral to be to any hospital so that you get the shortest wait list. They'll have experience with unusual cases like yours. (You can also be sent to Max Fac by A&E)

Thinking about it, your dentist might also be able to refer you to Max Fac.
