Incorrect Prescription for Endo

Hi has anyone ever needed to get a refund from GPs and pharmacists? I recently requested a repeat prescription of mefenamic acid, picked it up and paid for it. Got home to find I've been given tranexamic acid instead which is useless for me. Pharmacist won't give a refund as I took the medication away, GP receptionist is unhelpful and rude at the best of times and said I've been given it as an alternative and I need to take it up with the pharmacist. Pharmacist said it's a GP issue. So I'm £9 down and now if I want the correct medication (which is the only thing that makes my period slightly more bearable) will have to pay again. This really seems unfair as I wasn't told in the first place I was being given an alternative which I've tried before, if I had I wouldn't have bothered paying for it! Does anyone know what I can do in this situation? Thanks.

I believe that the pharmacy would have to destroy the wrong prescription if you returned it so it's fair that they are not the ones who should bear the cost of the GP's mistake.

I don't know what happens if the GP issues the wrong repeat prescription though. Sorry

Thank you for replying. I had read that it would need to be destroyed. The pharmacist actually gave it me back which surprised me! No idea what to do about it now, £9 is a lot to lose for me and what a waste of medication.
