Hi guys.. I'm 48 and havnt had a period in two month.. I've also noticed I don't get any vag discharge (sorry) in last few weeks, I seem to get really bad irritation in the vag area I spoke to my doc and she took swabs and they all came back clear, I've used canes balance BV and Canesten but still have the irritation, I havnt used any different products, plain water in shower and underwater washed with just water, what more can I do....it's driving me nuts....

With me found out it was synthetic material on pants causing it-get it checked out again for yeast infection. Sometimes over washing of your intimate area can cause irritation too not enough good bacteria there so can feel irritated.failing all that go back to GP X

Sounds like it could be menopause related & linked to reducing oestrogen levels. Has your GP checked if you’re in the menopause. I’ve heard oestrogen cream can help, but it’s prescription only.

It sounds like urogenital atrophy. This is caused by a lack of oestrogen to your vagina and bladder. It won't improve by itself. You could try a vaginal moisturiser like Sylk or Yes but a low dose local oestrogen (cream or pessary) is the best thing. You need a prescription but it's VERY low dose and stays where you put it so won't affect other parts of your body. After the first 2 weeks of daily use the regular dose is x2 a week but many women need and use more with their doctor's approval. This condition isn't curable (and can lead to chronic UTIs, prolapse and lots of pain) so you need to use local oestrogen to keep it under control.
