Side effects of Sertraline

Horrid question but have been on Sertraline for 8 weeks and every morning have severe urgent need to poo (desperate!) has anyone else experienced this? Thx

Yes it's horrible although I thought mine was from the anxiety which the Sertraline is treating. You didn't have it before then? If it continues maybe you should go back to Dr?

I have the same issue, every morning, I mean really bad. It improved a few months ago but is back now. Im told that its normal but that you should go to the docs if it continues for too long.
Makes leaving the house and driving to work even more challenging than the anxiety does!

Has anyone also had severe weight loss followed by severe weight gain over a month? Thx

Interesting and following-I am also having issues relating to bowels 12 days after starting sertraline. Everyone else in the family is fine so I don’t think it’s a bug-I think it’s the medication. 6 days of horribly upset stomach-I stopped taking sertraline on Tuesday. Hoping everything settles down but very reluctant to restart...

I’m 5 weeks in and it’s just settling down this week, I’ve lost half a stone. It was awful the first 10 days, hot flush, then cramp, then needing to poo that second!

I took one and within the hour couldn’t get of the loo and was v concerned I’d poo myself on the way to work. Never again!

Thx for all your messages. Am cross as last time I saw my gasto specialist and told him I lost 4 kilos in a week he put it down to a virus!! Now I look like a beached whale who is 5 months pregnant - so much so I took a pregnancy test ( have the coil fitted so most unlikely!!! Pretty sure I will stop taking it but would love to know others experiences
