D-mannose I've been using for 10 days (9 a day) and no change.

Has anyone tried:

optibac for women?
Braggs brown apple cider vinegar?
Dandelion tincture?
Marshmallow root tea?

(due to have a urethra dilation hopefully)

I have this! Wee in the bath and get a urologist that will prescribe ialuril. Only things that work for me. Good luck

Mrbumpoid · 08/10/2019 20:26

Why wee in bath? Have you tried a urethra dilation?

Don't know why weeing in the bath works, but it does! A midwife gave me that advice ha. Capillary action to fully empty your pipes I assume! Yes I have had dilatation twice. I don't think it helped me apart from the second time where they actually made the diagnosis and that's how I ended up on the ialuril treatment. I was taught to self cathaterise and now treat myself at home monthly :)

Oh that's good. Are you pain free now? I have been in agony for 11 weeks now. Not even one minute pain free. No painkillers help. I haven't been out and I have a new baby.

I am pain free now, I am pregnant though and that seems to help. I haven't needed medication during my pregnancy and I have been fine since I was pregnant last time. I do the instills once a month normally and the medicine works like a barrier cream for your bladder. Make sure you get as much rest as you can with a new baby, it is hard work but stay hydrated and use a hot water bottle on your tummy. No painkillers work for me, I literally have to go into survival mode with a flare and my husband just takes over the running of life and kids! I hope you get it sorted soon. Be aware that the dilatation often makes it worse for a while but I would push to try the medication straight into the bladder. It really has been life changing for me

Okay great. Thank you

Hi, I've been diagnosed with ic but told countless times its a "poorly understood condition ' and have really suffered extensively in the last few years.
Lately I've found drinking marshmallow root tea mixed in with marshmallow leaf (I mix both dried herbs and brew for long time) twice a day helps. Plus intermittent fasting. Plus acupuncture. Optibac and acv didn't help me. Nor d mannose and about 4000 other remedies I've tried in vain.

I also find that taking st johns wort at highest dose helps my pain. I've stopped exercise and am now only doing basic pilates and tai chi.
Deep belly breathing with pillow under knees.

Wish you better, it's so horrible

Mrbumpoid · 13/10/2019 20:23

My urologist said she now thinks isn't IC but a deep infection not picked up by tests and due to a catheter I had a few months back. I’m hoping she is right! She has put me on a six week course of antibiotics. Thank you for your reply. I am going to try those things in the meantime.

Does yours ever ease off? I've had no pain-free day for three months.

Yes I think it's infection related too. Trouble is you really need the correct antibiotic. I hope your symptoms ease.
I had solid daily pain since April but in recent weeks it's been better. I'm fasting and taking raw garlic

Mrbumpoid · 14/10/2019 17:09

My urologist has put me on six weeks of Nitrofurantoin and then did weeks of a different one. I’m also on toter-something that has helped me not need to pee as much
