Very heavy period (tmi details)

I'm just wondering if this is something worth going to the GP about or if it's normal and I'm overreacting.

My periods have always been fairly light, but this month I've suddenly had what feels to me like a really heavy period.

If it was just normal bleeding but heavier I wouldn't be too concerned, but today I passed a lot of clots all in one go and it's freaked me out a little bit. None of them were particularly big individually but the clump together was quite large. I actually had less cramping than normal too which seems an odd combination.

It's definitely not a possibility that I'm pregnant so can't be a miscarriage and I'm just wondering if it's normal for a heavier period and I've been lucky or if it is worth going to the GP to see if I need to be checked? I'm not (or shouldn't be) menopausal age, I'm late 20s.

I think any change in periods warrants a trip to the doctor, If this is unusual for you get it checked out, even just for peace of mind.

Any changes in usual menstrual pattern and or flow should be reported to the GP.

Thanks both, I had my appointment today ( a week wait is fairly standard at my GP) and she doesn't think it's anything to worry about as a one off which is a weight off my mind! Hopefully it will all be back to normal next month
