GP thinks PCOS but 111 thinks different

Hi everyone, I was on the contraceptive implant for about a year and a half but had enough of it and got it removed April 2018. I had a regular cycle until the I had the implant. Some months without a period. Some months with a 10 day period. Some months 2 weeks late etc. So as you can imagine I want to pull my hair out nearly every month. August 2019 my period was a week late which I brushed off because like I said, I ain’t regular. September comes and I wasn’t due until the end of the month however I started spotting the 16th day of my cycle. It was around ovulation so I ignored it. The bleeding went on and turned into heavy bleeding which I assume was a period.

I’m quite an anxious person so I called 111 telling them the situation and the woman basically said could just be an anomaly and to ignore it unless it gets worse and carries on.

After the weird period ended I didn’t bleed for a week, then on Saturday I noticed spotting once again Angry it was much lighter and only saw it when I wiped. Again, it was around ovulation time but 6 days later I am still spotting. It’s not red. Sometimes it’s really faint pink and sometimes it’s brown but it’s literally nothing.

I then called 111 again and the specialist said because I’m not regular anyway it isn’t anything to worry about since I have no other symptoms. I booked a GP appointment because I just want to be safe. I am going away on Saturday for a really nice week away in Spain and this has honestly put a downer on everything and I hope it doesn’t go on too much longer.

Anyway I booked a doctors appointment and the GP didn’t really do much, just checked blood pressure, height and weight and asked a few questions and she said that it seems like I have mild PCOS which obviously upset me cause I do hope to have children in the near future and I know that PCOS can cause problems for both me and my kids.

She said to me that if it’s not PCOS then could just be hormonal problems like possibly under active thyroid. But it could also be my body still recovering from all the hormones that the implant gave me as my body didn’t react very well to it. So I’ve been told I book my 21 day blood test and hopefully we can move on from there.

I’m just sick of this really and just wish I sorted out my cycles sooner. Im really hoping it’s not PCOS and I don’t really have any other symptoms apart from weight gain (which I put on while on implant) and irregular period. Just find it so strange how I’ve spoken to 2 111 specialists and a GP and they’re all telling me different things. Just don’t know what to do or believeSad. Would love to know if anyone is on the same boat as me x
