Bladder/urethra pain post catheters - how long?

Mrbumpoid · 27/09/2019 08:28

I had three catheters in, in the space of three weeks -

  1. for episiotomy
  2. for haematoma
  3. for haematoma

It has now been 9 weeks since the first one and I am in constant agony in the bladder/urethra. Consultant said it's probably bc of the catheters.

Anyone with experience? How long should I expect this pain?

I had one in for a day 10 weeks ago. No pain at all since. I'd go back to the gp ASAP if I were you

@DancingWithDogs unfortunately I've been going back to the GP for 9 weeks. 4 GP, 6 hospital drs, 2 hospitals, 5 midwives and 6 consultants.

My friend had something similar caused by the trauma from the catheter. I think it had got better by 9 weeks though, I can only suggest to keep as hydrated as possible and keep the urine as weak as you can whilst it repairs. She had the same when she had the second baby but recognised it.
