Soft cervix, abnormal bleeding - waiting for colposcopy, not pregnant

Hi so i posted before. I had a smear test last wednesday. Started bleeding thursday and still bleeding red blood today, monday. Went to see dr today and he examined me and said cervix was soft, sore and red plus fresh blood. He said it was coming from the middle i think. But by that point i was in such a state i cant remember what middle, what he meant.

But he did say he didnt see anything obviously cancerous like lumps etc. He may have just been trying to calm me down though. He has referred me for an urgent colposcopy and im awaiting that appointment.

Im not due my period. I was a few days finished with it when i went for my smear test so shouldnt be due for at least a week or more.

Im on the mini pill and havent had any issues with it. Im 37 with four kids, youngest is 3 and hes still nursing. If any of that makes a difference.

Im absolutely shitting myself expecting the worst. Looked into goinfg private but their on a similar time scale of about two weeks so may as well save the £2200 and go nhs.

Trying to come up with other explanations - erosion, hormonal due to stress (had a distressing phonecall the day of my smear telling me my son has a genetic disorder) .

I dont buy that the actual smear test caused it as the bleeding doesnt appear to be coming from the bit that she would have touched and when she did it, it didnt hurt at all.

Has anyone been through this and lived to tell the tale? Two weeks is a long wait...

It's probably just a little cervical ectroption. I used to get a bit of bleeding from that now and then (bit of womb lining on the outside that is more sensitive to touch). I've also recently had treatment for pre-cancerous cells (not related) and that really wasn't that bad either so either way please don't worry too much.

@floodypuddle thankyou, i looked up the cervical erosion bit would that really make me bleed like a normal period for 5 days? Hoping yes!!! Have cramps along with the bleeding, like mild dull aches. Not pain as such. I never have proper painful periods and they are not excessively heavy either. No pain or bleeding after sex.

But i have had some bloating for a few months now..

Thanks though for the positive reply Smile

Im now wondering what ovarian cancer symptoms are but too scared to look. Forgot about that one until saw it mentioned whilst trawling the net...

I've had it for maybe four days at a time in the past and it was crampy.

I really would step away from Google. I cried for days before my coloscopy and then following treatment because I went down a Google hole and really frightened myself but there was really not that much to worry about when it actually came to it.
