Some questions about the moon cup

Blubluboo · 20/09/2019 20:55

So I bought a mooncup last year, tried it and hated it, I felt like it was sucking my insides down and panicked and pulled it straight out (after some trouble getting it out I might add 🤣) anyway, I cleaned it in boiling water and put it back in the little bag it came in and haven't tried it since. But I'm frankly fed up of pads and tampons (mainly tampons) and would like to give it another go. I came on today so would like to test it out this evening. Questions..1. Do I need to clean it again before using? Or do you pop straight in?
Also, any tips for the initial uncomfort? And when do I cut the stem?

I'd probably give it a wash with soapy water and a good rinse.

I found it easier to insert if it was wet / warm anyway so try that. I think the stem question is personal to each woman so try it with a bit of trial and error.

Same with how high it goes - I think I put it higher than the official guidelines but it works for me.

I also squat to insert / remove.

Good luck - I love mine!

Thank you for the tips. I love mumsnet for quick advice!
I really want to love the mooncup so praying I get it right this time.

I always have mine wet for insertion. Friends add some lube.
And I have to undo knee-high boots in order to squat as low as possible, and then it comes out easily. Personallly I'd like a longer stem (short fingers), but I've mastered removal now.
