Flooding after combined pill

Help!
first period since quitting cilest/cilique combined pill. In 8hours I've gone through 5 super tampons, one heavy pad two pairs of pants and a pair of jeans - clots falling out when on the loo. Just got into bed with a tampon and two pads but know I'll need to get up in the night as can feel I'm starting to flood already.
Is this normal? I've been on the pill 13mths, am 36, v light periods this last year, they were heavy before but nothing like this, it's like a shark attack! NHS website seems to suggest seeing the dr if this happens a few cycles - do I just crack on for now? It's a bit alarming! Thx!

Hopefully things have settled down but if not speak to your GP, they can prescribe meds to slow the loss down. I think it's called transexamic acid???

I had the same when swapping contraception. But it was only the first couple of months.

I think you know it's not normal already hun - it sounds horrific to me. I know it will be a bit different if you've just come off the pill as your hormones will be all over the place again, but honestly, that sounds far too heavy to me. See how it goes, but try to see a GP if it carries on much longer.

How are you now OP? I hope that if it hasn't settled you've gone to the GP to insist they do something. You definitely shouldn't have to put up with this. I know the sort of bleeding you mean and it's frightening and also expensive with all of the protection, bedding, clothing you go through.
I hope that it's improved.

Ah! Only just noticed these replies! Thankyou for replying! I ended up having transexamic acid but for An entirely different reason- I ended up having some prolonged bleeding after a routine, unrelated operation so the drugs worked on both problems! However, I wouldn't want to routinely take that as it does increase the risk of Blood clots. I will see how things go next cycle and head to my gp if it's the same again. Thank you so much for the advice, I just needed to hear it from others! I'd paid for a detailed blood test as I've been feeling "off" for a while and the results have come back with a few anomaly's, one of which is transferrin is 16% when the lowest normal level is 20% so I've booked a routine appointment to look into that and whether I'm anaemic as it'll be worse now as the blood test was taken before all this drama! Thanks again Smile
