Anyone had one and had a positive outcome?

Irregular vaginal bleeding for 4 months, I’ve had a cervical examination and all seemed ok, but I’m petrified I’m going to be told something really bad.

Looking for a hand hold I guess- scan is in 2 weeks!

Had one years ago and spookily may be being referred for another.

it's less uncomfortable than a smear test doesn't take long and the radiographer was very chatty and talked me through it.

Mine was all fine I a swollen ankle and this can be a sign of gynae cancer - hence scan

This time I have had pelvic pain dependant on blood results may need another scan.

Loads of things cause irregular bleeding and most are easily fixable try not to worry.

Had a swollen ankle!

Oh really? I never knew!
I’m petrified of the C word atm, or anything to do with operations.
I’ve had a vaginal ultrasound before but never to this extent, or for bad reasons.

I hope yours gos well if you have to have one!

Is your irregular bleeding like period bleeding or less than that? I had monster periods & have had two vaginal scans. Dd has irregular periods & had a scan to check all ok. She was 19, not phased by it. Dd has poly cystic ovaries.

I have, then a laparoscopy. I was diagnosed with endometriosis

I’ve had a couple and they found a pretty big fibroid.

At the start of April I started to get double the periods I was getting before (every 2 weeks basically) really heavy, long, they put me on the mini pill at the end of June and since I’ve been taking it I’ve pretty much bled every day bar 2. Even light days there’s clots. So much so I’m late for my smear test, I wasn’t directly bleeding but the cervix was covered in clots so the nurse couldn’t swab me.
she got a dr in to examine my cervix and he’s sending me for this scan!

Oh you poor thing, that sounds exhausting. I had my scan & booked an appointment with my GP so I could see her as soon as she’d had the results. She referred me to a local cancer clinic as then you have to be seen within 2 weeks, which happened. The gynaecologist I saw was horrified by the level of bleeding I was experiencing & rather than having a mirena or other IUD with hormones I had an endometrial ablation. I had a tubal ligation in my 30s and my family is complete. The ablation would not be appropriate for someone who might want additional children.

Jellybeansincognito · 23/08/2019 07:49

May I ask how much bleeding you were experiencing?

It’s bloody awful isn’t it. I’m already anaemic from the situation

I was bleeding through a giant tampon (the orange lillets that are hard to find) in 15 minutes at the worst. I had 32 consecutive days of heavy bleeding in February, after 8 days I made an appointment to see my GP. Couldn’t see her for another 3 weeks & then had blood tests & then the ultrasound. I had an ultrasound last year and there weren’t any fibroids. The second ultra sound suggested I had adenomyosis and there were two patches they wanted to investigate but the gynaecologist couldn’t do a hysteroscopy on me conscious as it hurt too much. I have to tell nurses where my cervix is as I have a retroverted uterus and they can never find my cervix (back top left).

Jellybeansincognito · 23/08/2019 08:33

Gosh that sounds awful, it sounds like women issues like this are really hard to resolve

The ablation has been brilliant, no bleeding but a little yellowy discharge, they couldn’t reach all the endometrial lining as I have such a big uterus . I think it’s good to have a big uterus isn’t it, usually the bigger the better GrinGrin.

Jellybeansincognito · 23/08/2019 15:37

Indeed 😅. Hopefully I’ll return with a positive update!
2 weeks is a hell of a long wait when you’re worried sick!
