PCOS & Pain

Hi all, I've recently been diagnosed with PCOS after going 9 months without a period, abnormal hormone levels, ultrasound confirming cysts etc. I've been having frequent little sharp pains that last 1 or 2 seconds over the last 6 weeks or so, but this morning I was woken up by an incredibly painful sharp feeling that lasted 30 seconds or so, it was agony. I have called my dr re the small pains who keeps telling me to wait for my gyno referral to come through so I can "have a good chat" with them re symptoms. That's great but in the meantime I need some support/reassurance with this new diagnosis?! I'm not sure if to be concerned by the pain.
