I’m 24 and just had my first routine cervical smear. It has come back as HPV positive but no abnormal cells! I know it is so common but I can’t help but panic! We have been ttc for 7 months now with no luck, could this be why we have not managed
To get pregnant? Has anyone had this experience and turned out to al be ok? X thanks in advance x

Hi froggy. Sorry you haven't had a response yet.

hpv is very common and I've not heard that it causes problems with fertility.

I would go to the doctors and discuss how long you've been trying for. They might make you wait for the year mark before offering help but it might put your mind at rest to discuss the issues with a professional.

No abnormal cells is a great sign. Hopefully by your next smear you'll be all clear

I have HPV and one of the higher risk strains. I was so worried and upset when I found out! (Ages about 32!)
The abnormal cells come and go. So I have yearly smears, where they often indicate cell changes.
I then go for a colposcopy where they dye the area and look for these cells. My body has usually fought the virus by this time and the cells have gone. I haven't experienced the cells being there at the colposcopy in the 6 or so years I've known about my hpv.

I also have 2 DC's so it hasn't affected my fertility at all.
