First period after emergency c section

I had my baby 5 weeks ago and have been exclusively breastfeeding since birth. To my surprise/shock/ horror I started my period yesterday! Has anyone else experienced this or knows someone that has? I'm pretty sure it's a period as it feels/ looks the same as what I'm used to, and postpartum bleeding stopped last week. Thanks to anyone who reads this and comments.

Didn’t have a csection but my periods started bang on 4 weeks later, even with exclusively breastfeeding, and regular from then on. I guess we are the unlucky ones!

Me too! I actually called the midwife in a panic as I thought it was some sort of post partum bleed or infection.
Her reply was 'no - it's a period - sorry, it's brutal I know!'

Ahh thanks to both of you for making me feel like I'm not alone! Yep, we are definitely the unlucky ones! I went to the GP on the health visitor's advice and had it officially confirmed. Oh well!
