Vitamin D deficiency and periods

Hey I have recently been diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency after 2/3 months of being really poorly. I have noticed in those months my symptoms were worse around my period and I felt I had a permanent flu/virus and my pms was OF THE CHART. I am a miserable anxious mess.

My level was 22 when I was given the diagnosis. Has anyone else had this and noticed it effect their periods? Or what were your symptoms?

Thank you!

Mine was very low and I felt like I was dying a bit. Like an old lady. My hair fell out my nails all broke

Few months later I feel much better. Take the tablets!

My most recent Vitamin D test was slightly lower than yours, and I've had horrible period symptoms and really irregular ones along with hot flushes, mood and focus issues, muscle and nerve pain, fatigue. It's hard to tell what's solely being caused by low Vitamin D, but with my long history, it does seem to cause quite the mess.

I've had Vitamin D and other deficiencies before and typically just given the prescription followed by the general advice to have a multivitamin, this time I had a nurse practitioner call me and walk me through what to look for (800-1000ius or 20-25μg, the multivitamin I'd previously had recommended for this and menstrual issues only had 2.5μg) and, while I've only started a few weeks ago, I've felt improvements and my cycle was a lot more normal after starting the tablets so a bit hopeful for the future.
