Polyp on cervix

Went for smear test and nurse advises I have polyp on cervix and to come back and see gp who will remove it.
Anyone any experience?
I am a complete wimp and the idea of this is terrifying...

Yep, I've a history of those. Don't worry, they are very common, usually benign & don't cause any harm. The fact your GP is going to remove it suggests it's a small one. The procedure is very like the smear test & the doctor will use an instrument to tweak the polyp & remove it. It doesn't hurt, in my experience. You might bleed a small bit afterwards. The polyp will be sent off to be examined, just in case.

Don't worry, I've had this done a few times - they have a tendency to grow back. I'm waiting on a hospital appointment at the moment for the latest one that the GP found when she removed my Mirena a few months ago. I'm not worrying about it.

Thanks Drama
The nurse was very reassuring and said it is nothing to worry about.
