I’ll try and be as concise as possible here!
About 8 years ago I had irregular periods, pain during sex, pain all the time really. I had an ultrasound which showed multiple ovarian cysts, as the report said ‘suggestive of PCOS’. It was also suggested to me that I could have endometriosis but I stopped seeing the gynae doctors as I was too worried about things.
Had my baby in 2015.
Tried various hormonal contraception between then and last year. Seemed to send my cycle wild and generally disagreed with me so using Barrier methods now. Also had colposcopy (cervical ectropion diagnosed, nothing serious) and hormone bloods which were fine.
Now since I’ve been off the contraceptives, I have noticed a massive increase in facial/body hair, thinning of my head hair, weight gain, rubbish skin. I had a Pelvic MRI for other reasons a few months back and the report said I had multiple ovarian cysts and one in my womb.
So, basically, I think I pretty much have PCOS. Can somebody please direct me where to go from here? Should I bother asking for a gynaecologist referral, and making PCOS diagnosis official? What treatment could they offer? What else can I do to help my symptoms?
Sorry if this is the least coherent post on mn ever! Thanks if you managed to get this far
