Colposcopy after smear hpv

Hi
Had smears for the past 2 years, just had results of 3rd annual smear.
All have shown hpv positive but no abnormal cells detected, so I've now been referred for colposcopy.
Terrified tbh in case cancer is found.

Has anyone else had experience of this?
I'm 45 and perimenopausal and my anxiety has gone into overdrive.

11 years ago I had cin3 which was successfully treated by lletz and had normal smears up until 2 years ago when I got the hpv+ result.

Been married for years and both faithful.

Thanks in advance

I had a colposcopy about 10 years ago and had an area of abnormal cells removed that was about the size of a 50p coin. It wasn't painful, it just felt like a longer, slightly more intense smear test. I remember feeling a bit of pain afterwards but I was only off work for the day I think.

I've since had yearly smears and all have been normal so far.

Thank you. Great that you've had all normal smears since your treatment.

Just worried that even though my smears have shown no abnormal cells that something serious shows up on colp. Nurse and GP have said my cervix looks healthy from what they can see.
