Sudden bleed over a week before period - no cramps

Sorry if this is long. Really hope someone can suggest what might be going on here, it's never happened before and I'm on holiday so have limited resources!

I'm on day 20 of a typical 28-30 day cycle, it's never been shorter than that.

I've just woken up in a small pool of blood. This isn't only unusual because it's shorter than my usual cycle, but because my period normally starts with cramps, then a relatively small amount of blood on day 1 which then increases. I have no cramps at all, which is weird for me.

Other things that may be a factor:

  • I did have a very tiny bit of spotting on Wednesday and Thursday (cycle days 14&15). Literally a couple of drops on each of those days
  • I'm on holiday, it's very hot here and I stupidly got pretty bad sunburn on my legs on Saturday, it's better now though. I also accidentally walked up part of a mountain on Saturday despite being fairly unfit (thought there was a ski lift, there wasn't)
  • I've been pretty tired for the past couple of days, but I've put that down to this being a strenuous holiday. I have no other 'symptoms'
  • My Fitbit has been showing a steadily increasing resting heart rate for the past week or so - from my norm of 64 to 76. I know those things aren't particularly accurate, but I want to mention everything!
  • We are TTC
  • I'm 36

I've tried googling but all that comes up is bloody implantation bleeding which I know is only a small amount, and isn't red, which this is. Any suggestions would be welcome, just want to put my mind at ease ideally so I can enjoy my holiday despite this!

I had LOADS of bleeding in the first few weeks of my second pregnancy. Oh I hope it's the same for you. Star

(As in, I hope this is a sign of pregnancy because you're ttc. I'm not wishing a stressful start to the pregnancy on you. Sorry, excited early morning post!)

@hairymclairie No worries, I know what you meant! Keeping my fingers crossed that's what it is too, but knowing my luck I'm not going to get my hopes up too much.

And thanks very much for the good wishes! Sorry, hot and flustered here and forgot to say that Smile
