Hi I've been prescribed Norethistrone as off on a longhaul holiday soon. Im not a great one for taking tablets just wondered if anyone else has used this and if it was ok. I need to take it for 2 weeks.
Thanks

You can still bleed when taking it. I was on the max dose available and still bled. However, I also had underlying health issues.

I’ve just finished taking it. I took it for 5 days (last day was yesterday) and have no side effects or bleeding yet. I ran a marathon in april and lots of women were talking about taking it before marathon day. From what I’ve read its just progesterone so should be harmless?

I take it back to back for endo and also because we (cpn, dd and I) noticed my anxiety was MUCH worse premenstrually.

I normally have very long very heavy periods but don't bleed at all now taking it, unless I miss a day! Then I'm stuffed - but as I say I have endo.

Dd took it for a holiday just as a one off and was fine

I took it for the first time last month. Took it 3 days before period due and it worked, only took for 5 days and then 3 days later period arrived. Only side effect I had was tender sore breasts. I would definitely use again.

I've used it several times for holidays, special events etc. I had no problems and it was great to know I wasn't going to have any bleeding at an inconvenient time.

hairyturkey · 29/07/2019 11:38

I would warn anyone off taking it. I have taken it a few times but the last time, once I finished it I had a huge wobble with my MH and it was definitely connected. I will never take it again, it was horrendous.

Howaboutthisone · 30/07/2019 09:33

I've been taking it since Easter time to control my unbelievably heavy bleeding while awaiting treatment. It's been brilliant for the bleeding. I've had some pms style wobbles and some headaches on it but is far rather be with it than without it.
