Fibroids, bleeding on the mini pill and the coil

Hello,

I had a large fibroid removed last year and afterwards I was put on the mini-pill instead of the combined due to the oestrogen (sp?) in the combined pill. I'm 36 and am childfree by choice.

Since changing I've been bleeding pretty much constantly. I've been to the GP who just seemed to peddle the Mirena coil. I did insist on another scan which found I have further uterine fibroids growing at the top of my womb but these were said to be only small and of no concern.

I'm miserable but I'm very wary that the coil is the answer- it's the same hormone as the mini-pill so I'm not convinced it will stop my irregular bleeding and I'm not sure how it would interact with any growing fibroids.

Does anyone have any advice? I need to go back to the drs but I need to do my own research first. Thanks!

Which mini pill is it as there are different types?

Mirena coil is often used for heavy bleeding. It doesn't have the exact same hormone as most of the mini pills so may not cause the same effect

I have fibroids and endometriosis and the mirena has made me bleed for 10 days instead of 5 and still very heavy. I would suggest a gynae referral if it's your GP you've been dealing with as I'm getting much further with the gynae than the GP if you have fibroids.

Thanks. It's cerazette but the Dr was adamant that was the best one.

I think a referral would be good but they seem to resistant to it and to be honest when I was under the gyne last time they were pushing for the coil too but they couldn't do it as the fibroid was too big/ infection risk.

I guess I'm just concerned that if I go for a coil it won't stop the bleeding and could get pushed out anyway due to my new fibroids now.

I also know someone that bled constantly with the Mirena which is putting me off! I asked about the copper coil but they said that they need to reduce the bloody supply to stop the fibroids growing and the copper coil could make periods heavier.
