I've had this small rash for a few months now just below my chest and it's spreading! It started off as one small red patch and just keeps getting more widespread. It does not bother me at all, not itchy or anything but I don't want to waste a GP's time if it's just pigmentation or something like that

Any help appreciated!

Go and see your GP. You won’t be wasting their time

It may be pityriasis rosea and that starts with one herald patch. If it is this (and I would ask for a dermatologist to have a look at it because the GP may or may not be up to speed with skin conditions) then it should fade of its own accord within six weeks.

I had exactly the same and it's a fungal rash (not contagious) gave me some shampoo to use as body wash and it cleared it.
