Is this anxiety?

Could someone please explain how anxiety feels? I've just had a very disturbing experience whilst making tea. I haven't told dh or mentioned it in front of kids as they are eating. All of a sudden a strange wave of shakiness came over me, my head started to hurt and I felt as though my heart was pressing back into my chest if that makes sense. I couldn't speak, my mouth was dry and I could hardly walk for my knees shaking. I'm now back to normal but my head is still pounding. I'm 45 years old and peri menopausal, I've had a few symptoms but not much such as sore wrists, erratic periods, few hot flushes at the start but not anymore and very low libido.

Tonight scared me a bit, I experienced something similar last night as I was going to sleep but not as bad as tonight. Was it an anxiety attack? Is it worth getting checked out by the doctor? I'm so scared it will happen again ConfusedConfusedConfused

Yeah definitely sounds like an anxiety attack... Probably related to your hormones changing. Try looking up some grounding techniques incase it happens again. Hope it doesn't become a long term thing for you :(

A panic attack maybe, but anxiety is in my experience related to continually imagining situations and the consequences and an ongoing fearfulness about comparatively benign situations. Just my experience though.
