Nipple thrush

I've got nipple thrush and in so much pain it's making me cry each time I'm feeding and just wanting to give it up atm. 2 weeks ago the dr gave me cream and told me to use it twice a day but the HV told me to use it after every feed on Friday so I've been doing that for the past couple of days but I'm still in so much pain! Is there any point in going back to the drs can they give me anything else? Or do I just keep putting it on after every feed and hope it goes away. How long do it normally last for? Thanks :)

Put it on after every feed, but you probably need fluconazole tablets as well. If the cream hasn't made any difference, you may well have thrush in your milk ducts and only oral fluconazole will get rid of it. Pls go back to the drs and ask for it (cks.nice.org.uk/breastfeeding-problems#!scenario see section on ductal infection). I feel your pain -- had it with all three of mine (felt like I had thorns inside me when I was feeding and my nipples were on fire). Tablets should clear it up within a few days. Good luck...

@TheotherMissHoolie Thankyou just had a look. That is exactly how I'm feeling atm and it's making me hate feeding. I have the pain most of the day anyway but when he's feeding it's soo much worse. I'm going to go back tomorrow I hope they will give me what you said as I can't cope anymore.
